Rupert Grint Returns as Ron Weasley in Broadway's 'Cursed Child'

Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley in all eight Harry Potter films, is set to reprise the role on Broadway in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. He will perform at the Lyric Theatre from February 2 to May 30, 2027.

Grint, who first played Ron at age 11, said in a statement that stepping back into the character now feels both familiar and new, especially as both he and Ron are fathers. He called the return a "full-circle" moment.

This will be the second time a film cast member joins the stage production. Earlier this year, Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, appeared in the play and helped boost ticket sales.

The story is set 19 years after the final novel, with an adult Harry Potter married to Ginny Weasley, while Ron is married to Hermione. Both couples have children, and the plot involves new dangers. Ron runs his own joke shop, Weasley's Wizard Wheezes.

Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender said Grint's return creates a bridge between the original story and the play's themes of family and legacy.

Grint made his Broadway debut in It's Only a Play and his West End debut in Mojo.
