Russia strikes Kyiv petrol station and warehouses as Ukraine hits Taganrog, Samara

A Russian drone struck a petrol station in Kyiv early on Tuesday, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said, with warehouse facilities in another part of the capital also hit. An explosion was heard in the city.

The attack followed U.S. President Donald Trump's statement on Monday that Ukraine and Russia had agreed not to target each other's energy infrastructure. Kyiv has recently been hit by repeated strikes on petrol stations, part of a broader Russian campaign that has damaged around 300 filling stations in recent months, mostly in or near frontline regions.

As the strikes unfolded, neighbouring Poland launched military aviation operations as a preventive measure to secure its airspace, its armed forces said.

Inside Russia, a Ukrainian missile attack damaged a warehouse belonging to the e-commerce company Ozon in the southern port city of Taganrog, the regional governor said. Separately, a drone attack hit an industrial facility in the Samara region on the Volga River, Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said, without naming the site. The region hosts several large oil refineries.

The reports could not be independently verified.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Monday that Kyiv was ready to back a U.S. proposal for a Russia-Ukraine ceasefire covering energy sites, but only if Washington could guarantee that Moscow was genuinely prepared to end the war.
