Russia Warns of Response to German Measures Over Drone Incident

Russia vows to respond to Germany's 'anti-Russian actions' after Berlin blamed Moscow for an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle airport.

Russia has said it will retaliate against Germany for what it describes as "anti-Russian actions," escalating a diplomatic row between the two countries.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova made the statement on Tuesday, responding to Berlin's decision to hold Moscow responsible for an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle airport last month.

Germany has already ordered a series of punitive measures in response to the incident. These include the closure of a Russian cultural centre in Berlin and the Russian consulate in Bonn.

Zakharova's warning, reported by the Interfax news agency, signals that Moscow is preparing to take reciprocal steps. The exact nature of Russia's planned response has not been disclosed.

The dispute marks a fresh low point in Russia-Germany relations, which have been strained over the war in Ukraine and related security concerns. The attempted drone attack at the airport has added a new layer of tension, with Berlin directly accusing Moscow of involvement.
