Russia hits Kyiv logistics hubs and Zaporizhzhia steel plant in overnight strikes
Russian overnight strikes hit Kyiv logistics centres and a Zaporizhzhia steel plant, killing six and wounding 20, Moscow says.
Russia's Defence Ministry said on Tuesday that its forces carried out overnight strikes on military-related transport and logistics centres in Kyiv and on a major iron and steel works in Zaporizhzhia, which it said was supporting Ukraine's war effort.
The ministry said it had hit the Nova Poshta sorting complex in the Ukrainian capital, claiming it handled storage and distribution of dual-use goods, including components for long- and medium-range drones, robotic systems, and electronic warfare equipment. It also said it struck the Kyiv-3 transport and logistics centre, which it described as a large warehouse complex storing attack drones, ground control stations, and their components.
In the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia, the ministry said its strikes targeted the Zaporizhstal metallurgical plant, part of the Metinvest group. Moscow described the facility as a leading producer of flat-rolled steel used to make protective structures, fortification modules, armour for military vehicles, and plates for body armour.
Ukrainian officials said the attacks killed six people and injured 20 in Zaporizhzhia, and triggered fires in Kyiv. Both sides deny deliberately targeting civilians.
The Russian Defence Ministry also said it intercepted or destroyed 396 Ukrainian drones over 15 regions overnight.
