Russia Claims New Settlement in Zaporizhzhia as Ukraine Hits Key Targets
Russia says it captured a settlement in Zaporizhzhia; Ukraine reports strikes on Russian command posts and drone facilities.
Russia's Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that its forces have taken control of a residential settlement in the Zaporizhzhia region. The claim came as Ukraine reported carrying out strikes on multiple Russian military assets over the past two days.
In its daily operational update, the Russian military said it had targeted 145 areas over the previous 24 hours, including logistics hubs, fuel and energy infrastructure, transport and port facilities, ammunition depots, drone assembly workshops, and temporary bases for Ukrainian troops and foreign mercenaries. The ministry also said Russian attack drones continued to strike Ukrainian military-industrial sites, logistics centers, ports, and vessels.
Ukraine's General Staff, in its own report, said its forces had launched strikes on Wednesday and Thursday against key Russian positions. In the Donetsk region, Ukrainian air-launched missiles hit both primary and backup Russian command posts. Ukrainian forces also targeted Russian maintenance and support units in the Kherson region, a drone command and control point in Crimea, and troop concentration areas in both Zaporizhzhia and Crimea.
The dueling claims highlight the ongoing intensity of the conflict, with both sides reporting significant military activity across southern and eastern Ukraine.
