Russia Claims Drone Strikes on Ukrainian Targets as Kyiv Reports 229 Front-Line Clashes
Russia says it struck Ukrainian military logistics and port targets with drones and took two settlements, while Ukraine reports 229 combat engagements in 24 hours.
Russia's Defense Ministry said its forces carried out drone strikes overnight against multiple Ukrainian targets, hitting logistics and communications centres supporting the Ukrainian military as well as port infrastructure and vessels.
In its statement, the ministry said Russian troops had taken control of two settlements in the Sumy and Donetsk regions over the past 24 hours. It also said Russian air defences had downed 10 Ukrainian guided aerial bombs and 442 drones.
On the same day, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said 229 combat engagements had taken place along the front line over the previous 24 hours. According to the statement, Ukrainian forces repelled numerous Russian attacks in the directions of Kupyansk and Pokrovsk.
The Ukrainian statement added that the country's air force, missile forces and artillery units had carried out strikes against Russian forces.
The accounts from the two sides could not be independently reconciled, and each reported only its own operations and claims.
