Russia and Ukraine Trade Claims of Strikes as Kyiv Reports Damage to Gas Station and Data Centre
Russia claims strikes on Ukrainian logistics and drone facilities in 143 areas and capture of two Kharkiv settlements; Ukraine reports heavy Russian equipment losses and damage to a Kyiv gas station and data centre.
Russia and Ukraine issued competing accounts of frontline activity on Wednesday, with Moscow describing a broad wave of strikes on Ukrainian military infrastructure and Kyiv reporting significant losses inflicted on Russian forces.
The Russian Defence Ministry said its aircraft, strike drones, missile units and artillery targeted Ukrainian logistics centres, fuel depots, military energy installations, drone production workshops and assembly points for Ukrainian troops and foreign fighters across 143 locations. It also said its forces had taken control of Krasny Yar and Potikhanovo, two settlements in the Kharkiv region, and that air defences had intercepted three guided missiles and 868 fixed-wing drones.
In its own morning update, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said that over the preceding 24 hours the country's air force, missile batteries and artillery had struck a Russian drone command and launch site. Ukrainian units reported destroying Russian military equipment including tanks, armoured vehicles and drones.
Separately, Ukraine's state oil and gas company Naftogaz said a gas station in Kyiv was hit, with no casualties reported. Several Ukrainian internet service providers said a data centre in the capital had been damaged, disrupting network services.
The accounts could not be independently verified, and each side's claims of damage and losses remain unconfirmed.
