Russian Daytime Strike on Kyiv's Solomianskyi District Kills Four

A Russian attack struck Kyiv's Solomianskyi district during the day, killing four people and injuring seven others, the city's military administration said. The administration offered its condolences to the families of those killed.

Witnesses at the scene described a sudden explosion that left little time to react. Daria Kuchynska, a 31-year-old flower shop owner, said she had stepped outside when the blast hit. "I fell to the ground, and his wife fell too," she said, describing a man who was injured and later taken to hospital. A woman standing beside her died at the scene, she said.

Kuchynska said cars began to burn and bystanders pulled people from the wreckage. She called for an ambulance and checked the woman's neck for a pulse, but found she was no longer breathing.

"I was lucky because I'm alive," Kuchynska said, adding that the damage to her shop mattered less to her than the loss of life around her. "Everyone is dying. This is unacceptable. It's simply horrific."

Another Kyiv resident, Yaroshenko Natalya, said she and others managed to pull a man from a car. "I do not know what happened to his hands and legs," she said.

Anna Divtyar, also a resident of the capital, said the man appeared to have been in a taxi at the moment of the strike, speaking on a call.

Emergency crews, including firefighters and police, worked at the site amid damaged buildings. Rescuers were seen carrying bodies from the area as onlookers gathered nearby, some of them crying.
