Russian drone double-tap on Kryvyi Rih mall kills 14, wounds 120

Two Russian drones hit a shopping centre in Kryvyi Rih, killing 14 and wounding over 120, including 22 children.

At least 14 people were killed and more than 120 wounded on Friday when two Russian drones struck a shopping centre in the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, authorities said. Regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha said 22 children were among the wounded in the daytime attack on President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's hometown.

Hanzha said 29 people were in serious condition, including five children. He posted a photo of black smoke billowing from a large industrial building.

Zelenskiy condemned the attack as "absolutely cynical and despicable," noting that a second drone hit the shopping centre half an hour after the first — a deliberate attempt, he said, to target emergency services. "Attacks like these are nothing less than terrorist acts," he said on Telegram, urging the world to hold Russia to account.

The strike comes as Russia escalates its air war on Ukraine, with fighting nearing the 4-1/2 year mark. On Thursday, 17 people were killed in a Russian ballistic missile attack on Kyiv. Ukraine has meanwhile stepped up its own strikes on Russian oil facilities and logistics infrastructure to undermine Moscow's war effort.
