Overnight Drone Attack Damages Mykolaiv Shopping Centre, Injures Two

Russian drones struck a Mykolaiv shopping centre overnight, injuring two civilians and sparking fires that emergency crews fought under threat of further attacks.

A shopping centre in Ukraine's southern Mykolaiv region was hit by a series of overnight drone strikes, causing significant damage to retail premises and igniting fires, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

The attack left two civilians injured — a 72-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene but were forced to pull back multiple times due to the imminent risk of additional strikes.

Crews returned to the site whenever the security situation permitted, working to contain the flames and assess the damage. Footage from the scene showed firefighters operating from cranes and using specialised equipment, including a firefighting robot, to tackle the blaze.

The visual record also captured the aftermath inside the complex, with shattered windows and damaged interiors of a food store and a flower shop. The repeated nature of the assault hampered initial response efforts, underscoring the dangers faced by first responders in the region.
