Sachivalayam staff call for 'Chalo Vijayawada' on Sunday; police deny permission
Sachivalayam employees plan a protest at Dharna Chowk on Sunday, but police have refused permission citing rains and Ganesh Nimajjanam.
Employees of the Swarna Gramam and Swarna Ward Sachivalayams have called for a 'Chalo Vijayawada' protest on Sunday to press for redress of their long-pending grievances.
The staff are demanding the grant of two notional increments, disbursement of pending wages and a permanent structure for promotions. They also allege that they have been treated unfairly in matters of promotion and other service benefits.
Under their plan, the employees intend to assemble on BRTS Road and stage a demonstration at Dharna Chowk.
However, the police have made it clear that no permission has been granted for the proposed protest. Krishna district Superintendent of Police V. Vidyasagar Naidu warned that stern action would be taken against those who violate Section 30 of the Police Act.
Deputy Commissioner of Police G. Ramakrishna said permission had not been given for any protests or rallies on Sunday in view of heavy rains and Ganesh Nimajjanam.
With the administration refusing clearance, it remains to be seen whether the employees will go ahead with the programme or call it off.
