Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn Lead Tributes for Filmmaker Kuku Kohli
Bollywood mourns Kuku Kohli. Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn lead tributes as the filmmaker is cremated in Mumbai.
The Indian film industry is mourning the loss of veteran filmmaker Kuku Kohli, who passed away at the age of 77 after suffering a heart attack at a Mumbai hospital. His final rites were held on Wednesday at the Oshiwara Crematorium, with the procession beginning from his residence in Andheri West.
Actor Salman Khan offered his condolences to Kohli's wife, veteran actor Aruna Irani, in a heartfelt social media post. "Rest in peace Kuki ji, Aruna ji my heart goes out to u. May God give u strength," he wrote on X.
Ajay Devgn, who made his acting debut with Kohli's 1991 film 'Phool Aur Kaante', also shared an emotional tribute. "Some people change the course of your life forever. Kuku ji was one of those people for me. Forever grateful for the faith you had in me. You will be deeply missed, Kuku ji. Om Shanti," he posted.
Several other celebrities, including Vicky Kaushal, Katrina Kaif, Rohit Shetty, Rajpal Yadav, and Javed Akhtar, arrived at the crematorium to pay their respects. Aruna Irani was seen in tears as she reached the cremation ground.
Kohli, who made his directorial debut with 'Phool Aur Kaante', went on to helm films like 'Suhaag', 'Haqeeqat', 'Zulmi', 'Anari No 1', and 'Yeh Dil Aashiqanaa'. His last directorial venture, 'Woh Tera Naam Tha', was released in 2004.
He is survived by his wife Aruna Irani and two daughters, Pooja and Karishma, from his first marriage to Rita Kohli.
