Kerala CM credits Narayana Guru for State's Secular Ethos at Sivagiri Event
Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan said Narayana Guru's vision anchors Kerala's social reformation and secular character, addressing a Sivagiri Madhom conference.
Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan has called on Keralites to adopt the teachings and vision of Sree Narayana Guru as part of their common heritage, describing his thought as the foundation of the State's progressive tradition and social reform.
He was speaking at a public conference organised by the Sivagiri Madhom to mark the reformer's death anniversary.
Mr. Satheesan attributed Kerala's secular standing to the Guru's work, stating that the seeds of that character were sown by him. He said the ideas the Guru instilled in people's minds endure beyond their time and cannot be erased.
Recalling the social conditions the Guru confronted, the Chief Minister said that in an age of darkness he took Keralites by the hand and taught them to move forward rather than backward.
He also said his government's actions would consistently reflect the Guru's teachings.
The conference was presided over by Sivagiri Madhom president Swami Sathchidananda. Agriculture Minister T. Siddique was among those present.
