Satish Salian records statement with CBI in Disha Salian death case
Satish Salian recorded his statement with the CBI on Friday, naming Aditya Thackeray, Sooraj Pancholi and Dino Morea, following a Bombay High Court order.
Six years after the death of his daughter Disha Salian, Satish Salian recorded his statement at the CBI office on Friday. In the statement, he named Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray, actor Sooraj Pancholi, model Dino Morea and others.
The development follows a September 2 order of the Bombay High Court directing a CBI investigation into Disha Salian's death. The court also instructed the agency to register an FIR and record the statement of her father.
Salian had approached the High Court raising doubts about the circumstances of his daughter's death. Disha, who was actor Sushant Singh Rajput's former manager, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai's Malavani area.
Speaking to reporters after recording his statement, Salian said he had given a comprehensive account of the events surrounding his daughter's death and reiterated his demand for justice. "I stated the facts exactly as they were; I told them everything that happened to my daughter. I listed all the names: Aditya, Sooraj Pancholi, Dino Morea, and the bodyguards. They noted everything down. They said they would take action based on what I told them; the proceedings would begin in a few days. The truth cannot be defeated. God stands where the truth is; that is why justice will be served," he said.
His lawyer, Nilesh Ojha, confirmed that the CBI recorded the statement on Friday in line with the High Court's direction.
During an earlier hearing, a Division Bench of Justices Bharti Dangre and Manjusha Deshpande raised concerns that only an Accidental Death Report had been registered and not an FIR, despite the family's allegations of murder. The court also noted that copies of the post-mortem report and the ADR had not been provided to Disha Salian's family even five years after her death.
Last week, Sushant Singh Rajput's sister, Shweta Singh Kirti, expressed hope in the CBI inquiry, saying the truth may be troubled but cannot be defeated.
