Actor and professional wrestler Saurav Gurjar has been remanded to judicial custody in a sexual exploitation case registered by the Gachibowli police in Hyderabad. He was produced before a magistrate, who sent him to judicial custody on Sunday.
Mr. Gurjar was intercepted by immigration officials at Mumbai airport on the night of September 17 after arriving from the Middle East. A Look Out Circular had been issued against him in connection with the case. A police team from Gachibowli brought him to Hyderabad on Saturday.
The case was registered on August 15 under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means.
According to the complaint, the woman became acquainted with Mr. Gurjar through Instagram in 2021 and they stayed in touch over WhatsApp. They met in person for the first time on December 25, 2021, and the relationship continued while she was in the United States and after her return to India.
The woman alleged that Mr. Gurjar promised to marry her and assured her that she would have rights equivalent to those of a wife. She claimed that he persuaded her to quit her job in the US on the promise that they would start a business together.
She further alleged that he later subjected her to physical and mental harassment, and that he would distance himself and block her phone number whenever she raised the issue of marriage.
The complaint states that Mr. Gurjar stayed with her from October 2025 to March 2026 and later continued living with her in Hyderabad before allegedly leaving without informing her.
