Scamarcio Calls Venice Acting Prize a Dream Come True
Riccardo Scamarcio says his Venice Film Festival acting award felt like a dream come true, calling it a great honour for an independent film made on a low budget.
Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio has described winning an acting award at the Venice Film Festival as an emotional and intense experience, saying he kept asking himself whether it was a dream coming true.
Speaking after the ceremony, Scamarcio said receiving the prize at the festival was a great honour. "As you can imagine it's emotional. Very, very strong, very intense," he said, adding that he was overwhelmed by the recognition at what he called an incredible festival.
The actor also spoke about the film behind the award, describing it as a story about fatherhood. He said the film looks at the relationship from the father's side, offering a gentle and kind perspective rather than the more familiar portrayal of children as problematic. "It's a film full of love," he said.
Scamarcio highlighted the independent nature of the production, noting that it was made with a very low budget. He said he was proud that the film had won two prizes on the day, calling the double win an incredible sensation.
The awards were announced during the Venice Film Festival, held in the Italian city in September 2026.
