Telangana to Clear Section 22-A Land Hurdles in Phases, Says Revenue Minister
Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy says the government is phasing in 12 measures to resolve long-pending Section 22-A land issues, with GOs 118 and 76 already issued.
The Telangana government is rolling out, in stages, the twelve measures announced by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in the Legislative Assembly to settle long-pending land issues tied to Section 22-A of the Registration Act, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has said.
Speaking after distributing regularisation certificates to beneficiaries from 44 colonies of the LB Nagar constituency at the Saroornagar Indoor Stadium, the Minister said Government Orders 118 and 76 had already been issued. While GO 118 covers regularisation of houses in colonies, GO 76 deals with house sites in the Singareni region.
He was joined at the event by Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin and local legislators, including LB Nagar MLA D. Sudheer Reddy, Ibrahimpatnam MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy and LB Nagar Congress in-charge Madhu Yashki Goud.
Of the 64 colonies in the constituency, issues concerning 44 have been resolved in line with the Chief Minister's directions, the Minister said. He added that District Collectors had been told to take up such cases irrespective of the political affiliation of local representatives.
Recalling that the Chief Minister had promised the implementation of GO 118 in LB Nagar during his tenure as MP from Malkajgiri, Mr. Srinivas Reddy said the commitment had now been honoured. He said problems affecting more beneficiaries in Medchal and Rangareddy districts under the same order would be settled within a month.
Seeking to reassure residents, the Minister said their houses would not be demolished and that properties facing restrictions imposed by the previous government would be regularised after due process. Several colonies, he noted, had remained on the 22-A prohibited-properties list, with the restrictions dating back to the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh. He alleged that some sections were using the issue to spread misinformation.
Government orders addressing registration-related problems, including those of people who had not applied earlier, are expected within about a week, he said, adding that the Chief Minister would make a formal announcement on the matter soon.
On GO 76, the Minister said implementation for regularising house sites in the Singareni region was moving ahead. A three-member committee has been constituted for the purpose, and the government expects to resolve the matter comprehensively within 45 days.
The government is also working on issuing Bhudhaar cards to farmers in rural areas on the lines of Aadhaar cards, he said, to create a more comprehensive record of landholdings.
