Secunderabad Cantonment Arms Theft: Weapons, Ammunition Recovered
A large cache of weapons and ammunition stolen from an Army barracks in Secunderabad Cantonment has been recovered. The Army had placed the area on high alert.
A significant quantity of weapons and ammunition reported missing from an Army storage barrack in the Secunderabad Cantonment, Telangana, has been recovered. The incident prompted the Army to place the entire cantonment area on high alert, with police launching a special investigation.
According to sources, the stolen haul included five assault rifles, four of which were AK-series rifles, along with seven pistols, 21 magazines, and close to 19,000 rounds of ammunition. The theft was discovered after the doors of an arms storage barrack at the Madras Regiment were found broken open.
Police sources indicated that more than two individuals are suspected to be involved, given the apparent familiarity with the premises that the act required. The incident has also raised questions regarding the adequacy of security measures around the weapons storage facility.
The case falls under the jurisdiction of the Bolarum Police Station, which is part of the Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate Zone in Hyderabad. A special investigation is underway to trace those responsible.
