SEMICON India 2026 to Spotlight Next Phase of Semiconductor Growth
SEMICON India 2026 will feature a session on the Semicon 2.0 Policy, outlining the next phase of India's semiconductor push.
The fifth edition of SEMICON India, scheduled for later this month in New Delhi, will include a dedicated session on the 'Semicon 2.0 Policy'. The discussion is expected to chart the next phase of India's semiconductor journey and outline a roadmap for building a resilient domestic ecosystem.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event on September 17 at Yashobhoomi, the India International Convention and Expo Centre. The programme will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, fireside chats, and international roundtables aimed at accelerating innovation and collaboration in the sector.
The focus comes as India's semiconductor push gains momentum under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). Twelve projects have been approved under the earlier Semicon 1.0 phase, and the Union Cabinet has cleared the next phase, Semicon 2.0, to further strengthen the ecosystem.
Beyond manufacturing, the government is supporting research and design by providing advanced design tools to over 332 academic institutions and 105 startups. Additionally, 24 startups have been approved under the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme, enabling work on critical applications. These steps are part of a broader effort aligned with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
