Sharmila Tagore to Make Cameo in Son-in-Law Kunal Kemmu's Spy Comedy 'Vibe'
Sharmila Tagore will appear in Kunal Kemmu's 'Vibe', her first Hindi theatrical film in 16 years. The spy comedy releases September 18.
Veteran actor Sharmila Tagore is set to make a special appearance in the upcoming spy comedy Vibe, directed by her son-in-law Kunal Kemmu. The film, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Drongo Films, is scheduled for a theatrical release on September 18.
The cameo marks a significant return for Tagore, as it will be her first Hindi film on the big screen in 16 years. Her last Hindi theatrical release was the 2010 romantic comedy Break Ke Baad. More recently, she appeared in the 2023 family drama Gulmohar, which premiered directly on a streaming platform, and in the Bengali film Puratawn.
This project also represents the first on-screen collaboration between Tagore and Kemmu. Interestingly, she has only shared screen space with her daughter, Soha Ali Khan, once before, in the 2009 film Life Goes On. She previously acted alongside her son, Saif Ali Khan, in the 2007 film Eklavya.
For Kemmu, Vibe is a major step forward in his career behind the camera, following the success of his 2024 directorial debut, Madgaon Express. In this new project, he takes on the lead role in addition to writing and directing. The film also marks his debut as a producer alongside Chirag Nihalani under their Drongo Films banner.
The film's teaser has already generated interest, introducing Preity Zinta as a government official who recruits two reluctant friends for a mission. Kunal Kemmu and Sparsh Shrivastava play the two clueless individuals thrust into the world of espionage.
