Simar Bhatia to Star Opposite Roshan Mathew in New Romantic Comedy

Simar Bhatia, who made her Bollywood debut earlier this year in Sriram Raghavan's war drama Ikkis, has signed her second film. She will be paired opposite Malayalam actor Roshan Mathew in an upcoming romantic comedy, marking a fresh on-screen pairing.

The yet-untitled project is described as a heartwarming, character-driven romantic drama that balances emotional depth with quirky, comedic moments. The makers aim to craft a fun-filled love story centered on the chemistry between Bhatia and Mathew.

Adhiraj Bose, known for directing the short film Interior Cafe Night (2014) starring Naseeruddin Shah, will helm the project in his feature directorial debut. Bose previously worked as an assistant director on films like Ek Thi Daayan and Talvar.

The film will be produced by Aayush Maheshwari under his BLM Pictures banner, which has previously co-produced titles such as Dhak Dhak, Loop Lapeta, and Yaariyan 2. Shooting is scheduled to begin in November, with the makers targeting a theatrical release in mid-2027.

Bhatia, the daughter of Akshay Kumar's sister Alka Bhatia, made her acting debut opposite Agastya Nanda in Ikkis, which chronicles the life of 2nd Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal and his martyrdom during the Battle of Basantar in the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Though the film underperformed at the box office, Bhatia earned praise for her subtle performance.

Mathew is widely recognized for his work in Malayalam cinema, including films like C U Soon, Moothon, Ronth, and the recently released Uyir. He has also appeared in Hindi films such as Choked, Darlings, and Ulajh, as well as series like Poacher and Kan Khajura. He will next be seen in Job Trafficking, an upcoming scam thriller series from Trial by Fire director Prashant Nair, expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video early next year.
