Singapore firms line up fresh data centre investment in Karnataka
Karnataka's industries minister says Singapore firms are keen to grow their data centre footprint in the state, with talks also covering aerospace, semiconductors and MRO.
Singapore-based real asset manager CapitaLand Investment has signalled interest in adding to its data centre capacity in Karnataka, beyond the 42 MW facility it is building at International Tech Park Bangalore at a cost of roughly ₹2,000 crore.
ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) has also expressed a desire to widen its presence in the state. The platform runs 34 data centres across 10 cities, with over 613 MW of IT capacity, including three facilities in Bengaluru. It is putting in about ₹5,000 crore to build a 100 MW data centre campus on KIADB land in Devanahalli.
The plans were outlined by Minister for Large and Medium Industries M.B. Patil, who is in Singapore to draw investment to Karnataka.
Patil said there was substantial room for closer Karnataka–Singapore cooperation in high-value areas such as aerospace and defence, semiconductors, aviation MRO and other advanced industries. The possibilities came up during discussions with Gan Siow Huang, Singapore's Minister of State for Trade and Industry.
Follow-up work on these opportunities will be taken forward through the Invest Karnataka Forum and the Singapore Enterprise Centre in Bengaluru. The Singapore government has also been invited to take part as a partner country at the Global Investor Meet 2027.
