Telangana Deputy CM Pitches Singareni-Hutti JV to Boost Domestic Gold Output
Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka proposes a Singareni-Hutti Gold Mines JV to scale up domestic gold production, citing Hutti's expertise and SCCL's mining capabilities.
Deputy Chief Minister M. Bhatti Vikramarka has directed Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) to evaluate a potential joint venture with Hutti Gold Mines, a Karnataka government undertaking known for its gold mining proficiency. The proposal aims to merge Hutti's specialised knowledge in gold exploration, extraction, processing, and refining with SCCL's technical strengths in mining coal and other minerals.
During a two-day visit to Karnataka's Raichur district, the Deputy CM toured the Hutti and UT gold mines. He inspected the production unit, ore processing plant, and electro-winning facility, where officials detailed the process from ore extraction to refined gold. The Hutti project currently produces an average of 2 to 4 kilograms of gold daily.
At the UT Open Cast Gold Mine viewpoint, Bhatti observed ore extraction zones and reviewed detailed mine maps, seeking information on the technologies deployed for gold exploration. He emphasised that gold is vital to India's economic security and suggested that public sector entities like SCCL should take the lead in scientifically exploring and extracting the country's gold reserves.
Highlighting a strategic opportunity, the Deputy CM noted that the exploration block secured by Singareni through auction in the Devadurga area lies close to Hutti Gold Mines. He instructed SCCL officials to leverage Hutti's technical expertise for the Devadurga project.
SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Buddhaprakash Jyoti, Director (Planning & Projects) Venkateshwarlu, and Hutti Gold Mines officials accompanied the Deputy CM during the visit.
