Sitharaman, Nepal's Wagle discuss flood recovery and economic ties in Delhi
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met Nepalese counterpart Swarnim Wagle in New Delhi to discuss flood recovery, reconstruction and bilateral economic cooperation.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met her Nepalese counterpart Swarnim Wagle in New Delhi on Thursday, with the talks centring on the aftermath of Nepal's recent flash floods and the country's reconstruction and rehabilitation priorities.
According to the Finance Ministry, Sitharaman expressed condolences over the loss of lives in the floods and reiterated India's continued support for Nepal's recovery and rebuilding efforts.
The two ministers also reviewed ways to deepen bilateral economic ties, including initiatives aimed at improving connectivity to boost trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges. Both sides underscored the importance of further strengthening the trade and economic partnership between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by the Foreign Secretary and the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs.
Wagle is on his first official visit to India since taking charge as Nepal's Finance Minister. The discussions reflect India's ongoing engagement with Nepal on economic cooperation, connectivity and development assistance.
