Santhi Narayanasamy, eldest daughter of the late actor Sivaji Ganesan, passed away in Chennai on Sunday at the age of 72 after an illness.
Santhi Narayanasamy, the eldest daughter of the late Tamil cinema icon Sivaji Ganesan, passed away in Chennai on Sunday at the age of 72. She had been unwell.
A film producer, Santhi Narayanasamy was known for backing titles such as Vetri Vizha (1989) and Neethiyin Nizhal (1985). She was the elder sister of actor Prabhu Ganesan.
Her mortal remains were placed at her residence in Valasaravakkam, where well-wishers gathered to pay their last respects. Prabhu arrived at the house and broke down on seeing his sister's remains. Visitors brought garlands as they came to offer their tributes.
Among those who called at the residence were Nassar, president of the South Indian Artistes' Association (Nadigar Sangam), veteran actor Sivakumar and director P. Vasu. Members of the Tamil film fraternity and others close to the family conveyed their condolences.
The last rites were performed later. Her death has brought grief to the Sivaji Ganesan family and to those in the industry who knew her.
