SwayvoTwain to Play Notorious B.I.G. in Upcoming Snoop Dogg Biopic

Universal's upcoming biopic on Snoop Dogg has found its Notorious B.I.G. SwayvoTwain, the son of late music icons D'Angelo and Angie Stone, will portray Christopher Wallace in the film, according to the production's latest casting news.

SwayvoTwain, born Michael D'Angelo Archer II, steps into the role of the legendary rapper who defined East Coast gangsta rap in the 1990s until his death in 1997. Despite Snoop Dogg's deep ties to the West Coast's Death Row Records, the two artists shared a well-known mutual respect.

The film, directed by Craig Brewer, also features Jonathan Daviss in the lead role. The cast includes Bentley Green as RBX and G Perico as Big Reecie Cup, a figure from Snoop's Long Beach roots. RBX, whose real name is Eric Dwayne Collins, was a Death Row signee in the 1990s alongside his cousin Snoop Dogg.

Other ensemble members include Myles Bullock as Dr. Dre, Lauren London as Snoop's mother Beverly Tate, Camron Jones as Tupac Shakur, Algee Smith as Warren G, and Tre Hale as Suge Knight. Laya DeLeon Hayes plays Snoop's wife Shante Broadus, with Olly Sholotan as Kurupt, Corey Champagne as Nate Dogg, and Jonica Booth as The Lady of Rage.

For SwayvoTwain, this marks his first major film role. He has built a career as a recording artist, with releases like "DoveSoar" and "Ms. Angie's Son," blending Southern soul, hip-hop, and melodic R&B.

Brewer, known for Hustle & Flow, directs from his own rewrite of Joe Robert Cole's script. Snoop Dogg produces the project, which will feature music from his extensive catalogue. Producers include Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum of Imagine Entertainment, alongside Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker. This marks the first project under Death Row Pictures' overall deal with NBCUniversal.

Universal has slated the film for a theatrical release on August 6, 2027.
