Sonu Sood meets Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary amid flood relief work

Actor Sonu Sood met Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary at the latter's residence in Patna on Tuesday, as the actor continued his relief work in the state's flood-affected areas.

The Chief Minister shared a photograph of the meeting at Lok Sevak Awas, describing it as a warm interaction with the actor and social worker.

Sood arrived in Bihar on Monday and has since been travelling through affected villages by boat to distribute essential supplies and meet residents. In a post on X, he said his team was working to reach families that had suffered the most losses, and shared images from areas including Begusarai showing him distributing aid and speaking with locals.

In a video update, Sood said his team would move from one village to another to deliver goods to as many people as possible. He acknowledged the support of local residents and boatmen, noting that their assistance was helping relief teams navigate the flooded areas. "You can see that there are people standing in the water behind us. We will try to reach as many people as possible who are suffering," he said.

According to a State Disaster Response Force release, as of September 22, about 49.72 lakh people across 15 districts, 88 blocks and 576 Gram Panchayats have been affected by the floods. Seven relief camps are housing 8,948 people, while 50 community kitchens have served 195.63 lakh meals.

River levels remain a concern despite below-normal September rainfall. Bihar has recorded 136.7 mm of rain this month, 12 per cent below normal, while cumulative rainfall from June 1 to September 21 stands at 658.2 mm, 28 per cent below normal. The Kosi is flowing above the danger mark at Baltara and Kursela, and the Ganga has crossed the danger mark at Kahalgaon.
