Sonu Sood Arrives in Nepal With Relief Supplies, Vows Long-Term Support

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has arrived in Kathmandu with a team from his Sood Charity Foundation, carrying food and blankets for those affected by the devastating flash floods that struck Nepal on August 26. The actor, who landed in the Nepalese capital on Tuesday, said the immediate focus is on providing essential supplies while his team assesses the broader needs of affected communities.

"We are here to meet all the victims of the flood. We just want to be with the people who are in need and will try to bring their lives back on track," Sood told reporters. He added that additional materials are being sourced from India based on requests from the ground.

The floods, triggered by a collapse of ice and rock near the Nepal-Tibet border, have caused widespread destruction across northern and central Nepal. According to Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the death toll has reached 1,003, with around 4,000 people still missing and nearly 12,000 rescued.

Sood emphasized that the relief effort would not be a one-time operation. "We will make sure that not only this month but also in coming months, the relief keeps coming," he said. In a social media post from the Trishuli River area, he described the scene as one of "unimaginable loss" with broken homes and families, while affirming that Nepal is not alone.

This is not the actor's first humanitarian mission. He gained widespread recognition during the COVID-19 pandemic for arranging transport for thousands of stranded migrant workers in India. He has also been involved in relief operations during the Punjab floods in 2025 and, earlier this year, offered free accommodation to travellers stranded in Dubai amid flight disruptions.
