Crowds in Spain watched the country's first total solar eclipse in over a century, with many calling it an overwhelming, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Medinaceli, Spain — Spectators gathered in the hilltop town of Medinaceli in northeast Spain to witness the country's first total solar eclipse in more than a century. The event, which began in the early evening, drew crowds equipped with lawn chairs, umbrellas, and protective glasses.
As the sky darkened gradually and then swiftly, onlookers broke into applause and cheers. For many, it was a deeply emotional moment. Rosa Celiberti, a 36-year-old language teacher, was moved to tears. "The feeling is amazing and you only understand it if you experience it live," she said, still visibly emotional after the event.
Jeronimo Gascon, a 35-year-old computer engineer, described the experience as overwhelming. "I was expecting something special, but when you actually experience it, it's incredible," he said. "It's something impressive."
Beatriz Achaerandio, a 47-year-old teacher, had previously seen a partial eclipse but said the total eclipse was incomparable. "It looks unreal. The light is unreal," she remarked, noting that the spectacle was worth every moment.
