Srikakulam researcher's 8-mm wind turbine earns International Book of Records entry
A one-gram, eight-millimetre wind turbine built by Srikakulam researcher Maheswaram Bhanu Chandhar has been recognised by the International Book of Records.
A wind turbine standing just eight millimetres tall and weighing a single gram has won its maker, Maheswaram Bhanu Chandhar, a place in the International Book of Records. Mr. Bhanu Chandhar is a young researcher from Narasannapeta in Srikakulam district.
The device was assembled from copper sheets, a small DC motor and a dab of enamel paint. It runs silently. The International Book of Records recognised the turbine as an innovative project and presented him with a certificate for the world record.
Mr. Bhanu Chandhar teaches in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering department at Sri Sivani College of Engineering in Chilakapalem, Srikakulam district. The college management and his colleagues congratulated him on the recognition.
He said the tiny turbine is functional and could be useful in space technology and robotics in the future, and that he would continue research on the project. His work has focused on smart grids and renewable energy systems. He added that he intends to conduct extensive research on green energy and share that knowledge with students.
