Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has said that no orders were issued under the DMK to shield R Veeramani, rejecting any suggestion that the party extended protection to the accused.
In a statement, Stalin said Veeramani, those who allegedly abetted him, and anyone who attempted to protect him must all face the law. He called for the maximum punishment to be handed down to each of them, irrespective of the positions they hold.
The remarks place the emphasis on the legal process, with the chief minister indicating that neither the accused nor those accused of helping him should escape the consequences of their actions.
