Youth abducted in daylight on Supaul highway; Bihar Police launch search

A 20-year-old man was abducted in broad daylight in Bihar's Supaul district on Monday, in an incident captured on video that has since spread widely on social media.

The abduction took place in the Bhimpur police station area, where the youth, identified as Mohammad Zeeshan Khan, was riding a motorcycle (BR50AD8174) towards Bhimpur. According to the police, criminals who had been waiting at the spot intercepted him. They first struck his motorcycle from behind and then forcibly dragged him into a car.

When villagers attempted to chase the abductors, the men opened fire to create panic. Police later recovered a spent cartridge from the scene.

Mr. Khan is a resident of Madhopur Panchayat, under the Chhatapur police station area. Police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the abduction and began investigating.

Supaul Superintendent of Police Sarath R.S. has constituted a special team, to be led by the Triveniganj Sub-Divisional Police Officer, to trace the youth and secure his safe recovery. Continuous raids are being conducted, though the police have not yet disclosed the motive behind the abduction or the number of people involved.

The viral video of the incident drew a sharp response from Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly Tejashwi Yadav, who posted it on social media platform X and attacked the Samrat Choudhary-led National Democratic Alliance government in the State over the law and order situation.
