Actors Suriya and Jyotika have renewed their wedding vows to mark 20 years of marriage, in a ceremony attended by their family and close friends. Videos from the occasion have since surfaced online and are being widely shared on social media.
The couple also posted pictures and videos from the ceremony along with a long note reflecting on their journey together. They titled the celebration "The Sequel" and said it was not a tribute to a flawless marriage but to the life they have built side by side.
In their note, the couple described the vow renewal as a celebration of imperfections, adjustments, understanding and sacrifice, and of loving each other selflessly. "This is a celebration of 'us'. The people we have become for each other," they wrote.
Jyotika shared her own vows, speaking about the life she has built with Suriya and their children. She said she chooses to focus on the positive side of life and to be grateful for those around her.
In her vows, she spoke of a dream that once felt distant now becoming a reality she would spend a lifetime dreaming of. She pledged to be happy, to celebrate life, never to complain, to be thankful for waking each morning in the arms of a man who protects her and for her children who have given her life meaning, and to stay healthy — describing health as the only true asset one builds.
On the work front, Suriya has several projects lined up. His upcoming film with director Jithu Madhavan is titled Scene, and he is also set to collaborate with director TJ Gnanavel on another project backed by Hombale Films.
