SWR's RPF rescues 33 children in August, seizes goods worth ₹12.5 crore
South Western Railway's RPF rescued 33 children and four elderly persons in August 2026, while seizing contraband and property valued at about ₹12.5 crore.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of South Western Railway rescued 33 children, including six girls, during August 2026 and seized items valued at approximately ₹12.5 crore across a series of operations, the zone said in a release.
Under Operation Nanhe Faristheh, 27 boys and six girls identified as being in need of care and protection were rescued and handed over to NGOs and the police for further assistance and reunification with their families. Four elderly persons, among them two men, were also rescued under Operation Dignity.
In the drive against black-marketing of tickets, Operation Uplabdh led to the arrest of 12 touts in 12 cases registered under Section 143 of the Railways Act. The force seized 18 live tickets worth ₹53,001 and 56 used tickets valued at ₹2.32 lakh.
Operation Satark resulted in eight cases related to liquor, with 154 bottles — about 89 litres — seized, valued at ₹55,162. Under Operation Narcos, eight cases yielded 127.5 kg of ganja, including a single case involving 14.98 kg of amphetamine worth ₹11.98 crore in which three persons were arrested. Six persons were arrested in the narcotics-related cases overall.
Passengers' belongings worth ₹66.41 lakh were recovered on 67 occasions and returned to their owners. Separately, 24 persons were arrested in 14 cases involving unlawful possession of railway property, with stolen property worth ₹2.28 lakh recovered.
On the operational front, an average of 36 to 40 express and special trains were escorted daily by more than 125 RPF personnel across the zone.
