Kerala Sunni Body Tells CPI(M) to Look Inward, Not Blame Minorities, for Poll Loss

The Sunni Yuvajana Sangham (SYS) has asked the ruling CPI(M) in Kerala to refrain from attributing its recent electoral setback to minority communities. Instead, the organisation has called on the party to examine internal dissatisfaction and governance failures that may have contributed to the result.

In a statement, SYS State general secretary Rahmathulla Saqafi Elamaram said the CPI(M) should reflect on the discontent brewing within its own ranks. He pointed out that issues related to governance and unhappiness among party workers were likely key factors behind the loss.

The remarks come amid post-election debates in the state, where the Left front has been analysing the causes of its poor performance. The SYS, which represents a section of the Sunni Muslim community, has cautioned against making minorities a scapegoat for the outcome.

Elamaram urged the party to focus on addressing the concerns of its cadre and improving administrative performance rather than shifting blame. The statement underscores the growing friction between the ruling front and minority organisations over political messaging and policy direction.
