Taiwan lifts 2026 growth outlook to 11.05% on strong Q2

Taiwan's statistics agency raised its 2026 GDP growth forecast to 11.05% from 9.64%, citing revised Q2 data showing 12.93% annual growth.

Taiwan's economy is set to grow faster than previously expected in 2026, according to the latest official projections. The Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics has revised its growth forecast for that year to 11.05%, up from an earlier estimate of 9.64%.

The upward adjustment follows a stronger-than-anticipated performance in the second quarter of this year. Gross domestic product expanded by a revised 12.93% year-on-year during the April-to-June period, slightly above the preliminary reading of 12.92%.

The revised figures suggest sustained momentum in the island's export-driven economy, with the statistical agency's updated outlook reflecting improved expectations for the coming years. The data underscores the resilience of Taiwan's manufacturing and technology sectors, which have remained key drivers of growth despite global headwinds.

Economists will be watching whether this trajectory holds, as the government's projections are closely tied to global demand for semiconductors and other high-tech goods. The revised numbers provide a more optimistic baseline for policy planning and fiscal projections through 2026.
