Taylor Swift's new song 'Cleveland!' nods to Kelce's roots and their wedding

Pop star Taylor Swift has woven references to her husband Travis Kelce's hometown and their wedding into a new song, 'Cleveland!', which arrived Friday as part of an expanded edition of her 2025 album.

The track takes its name from the Ohio city where the NFL tight end was born and raised. Kelce, 36, grew up in Cleveland Heights alongside his older brother Jason Kelce before attending the University of Cincinnati.

On the song, Swift sings about being shown around the area: "He already took me to Cleveland, and showed me The Heights / so hate all you like, this is the love of my life." A later chorus shifts to the couple's marriage, with the line, "He already took me to Cleveland, now I'm wearing white."

Elsewhere in the track, Swift addresses how she is perceived publicly, quoting a series of critical remarks before turning to her relationship. "The taste of me is acquired, but it's his favorite dish / He says I look like an angel, they say, 'I hate that bitch'," she sings, adding a line about the house with the porch where Kelce lived as a child.

In the bridge, she declares, "You only need to find one person in this entire world who doesn't find you completely insufferable, and I have an important announcement to make, I found mine."

Kelce has spent his entire professional career with the Kansas City Chiefs, who drafted him in 2013, and has won three Super Bowls across five appearances. Beyond football, he co-hosts the 'New Heights' podcast with his brother and has moved into acting and television hosting. He remains a keen supporter of Cleveland sports and holds a minority ownership stake in the Cleveland Guardians.

The couple began dating in 2023 and announced their engagement in August 2025.

'Cleveland!' features on 'The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore', a surprise four-song expansion of Swift's 2025 record. The other new tracks are 'Patient Zero', 'Pink Clouding' and 'Babylon'. Swift announced 'Patient Zero' on September 22 and revealed the full expansion the following day.

The Cleveland Cavaliers also responded to the news, sharing a black-and-white clip of Swift and Kelce courtside at Rocket Arena during a recent Cleveland outing, with a message on Instagram reading, "Keepin' it... in the Land, always."

Swift said the additional songs grew out of appreciation for listeners. "About a year ago, you guys did a truly unfathomable thing. Something that completely blew my mind… You gave The Life of a Showgirl the biggest first week for an album in history," she wrote on Instagram. "I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made."

A 13-second teaser for the 'Patient Zero' music video, starring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, was shared on September 24 and is set to premiere during the MTV Video Music Awards on September 27.
