Taylor Swift to Receive MTV's First Artist-Director Honour at VMAs

Taylor Swift will become the first recipient of a newly created artist-director honour at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, CBS and MTV have announced.

The award is intended to recognise musicians whose work behind the camera has shaped music video production and visual storytelling. In a statement, the networks said the honour celebrates a sustained and influential body of work from artists who have pushed creative boundaries and developed a clear directorial voice.

Swift, a 14-time Grammy winner, has been nominated seven times for the VMA for best direction and has won it four times. Her directing credits include the videos and films for "The Fate of Ophelia," "Opalite," and "Anti-Hero."

Her recording career includes four Grammy album of the year awards. According to Billboard, citing data from the music sales tracking firm Luminate, her latest release, "The Life of a Showgirl," sold more copies in its first week than any other album in the modern era.

The ceremony, hosted by Snoop Dogg, will air live from Los Angeles on Sunday on CBS and MTV, and will stream on Paramount+ in the United States. International viewers will be able to watch on Paramount+ and MTV the following day.
