Taylor Swift to Release Expanded 'Showgirl' Album With Four New Songs

Taylor Swift has announced an expanded edition of her twelfth studio album, titled The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, which will arrive on Friday.

The pop star shared the news on Instagram, saying the four additional tracks were written after the original album's release last October. The Life of a Showgirl went on to break several records, with all twelve of its songs entering the top 12 of the Billboard Hot 100.

Swift said the new material took shape during a trip to Sweden, where she met up with Max Martin and Shellback, her two collaborators on the album, to celebrate its success. Although the plan was simply to reflect on the moment, a studio was available, and the trio ended up writing more songs.

The expanded record will include the single "Patient Zero," which Swift teased before confirming it on Tuesday. The other new tracks are "Cleveland!," "Pink Clouding" and "Babylon."

Martin and Shellback have worked with Swift on several of her studio albums.

The announcement came after Swift appeared in a comedy sketch at this month's Emmy Awards, which led fans to speculate that she was teasing new music.

"The Fate of Ophelia," the lead single from Showgirl, drew 92.5 million official streams in the United States in its opening week, according to Luminate, a firm that tracks music sales.
