Telangana adds three more years to upper age limit for constable recruitment

Telangana has extended the upper age limit for constable and equivalent posts by three more years, on top of an earlier seven-year relaxation, with applications due by 5 p.m. on September 16.

Telangana has widened the age window for direct recruitment to constable and equivalent posts, adding three more years to the upper limit for vacancies in the Police, Fire Services, Prisons and Special Protection Force departments.

The change was notified through a Government Order dated September 9, 2026. It builds on a seven-year relaxation already extended through orders issued in May and August, taking the cumulative benefit for candidates higher than what was earlier available.

According to the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board, the additional relaxation covers the notifications issued on July 29 for SCT PCs (Civil) and equivalent posts, as well as SCT PC (Mechanic) posts. The SCT PC (Driver) post in the police department is excluded from the revised age criteria.

Candidates who now fall within the relaxed age band can apply online through the board's website until 5 p.m. on September 16. The board has urged them to file their applications well before the deadline, cautioning that a last-day rush could lead to heavy online traffic, delayed responses or failure to submit applications.

The government's decision is aimed at giving another opportunity to aspirants who had crossed the previously prescribed upper age limit for the notified posts.
