Telangana's Bhu Bharati survey to end long-pending land disputes: Minister

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has stated that the ongoing Bhu Bharati resurvey in Telangana is designed to offer a permanent resolution to long-standing land disputes, aiming to restore confidence among farmers and landowners across the state.

Speaking on Monday after distributing Bhu Aadhaar-linked pattadar passbooks to 780 farmers covering 1,378 acres in Narayanapur, Kesamudram mandal, Mahabubabad district, the Minister noted that the exercise resolves a decade-old assigned land dispute in the area. He pointed out that a comprehensive land survey was last conducted in Telangana roughly 125 years ago, with no similar statewide exercise undertaken since. He alleged that successive governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh and the previous Telangana government failed to initiate such a survey.

As part of the Bhu Bharati initiative, every parcel of land is being measured, and farmers are receiving pattadar passbooks that include QR codes and maps for better documentation. The Minister also assured residents that issues concerning nearly 150 acres of assigned land in Narayanapur, which has reportedly been cultivated for generations, would be addressed soon.

Later, Mr. Reddy, along with Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Seethakka, reviewed the functioning of the Revenue and Housing departments in the erstwhile Warangal district at the Mahabubabad Collectorate. Expressing dissatisfaction with the performance of Revenue officials, he directed them to carry out their duties responsibly and warned of stringent action against those causing inconvenience to the public.

The Minister cautioned officials against taking decisions contrary to rules, particularly regarding matters on the 22-A prohibited list and other land-related issues. He also voiced anger over reports that some Tahsildars were marking attendance citing deputation but failing to attend review meetings convened by elected representatives.
