Telangana CM alleges plot to delete 1 crore anti-BJP votes under SIR

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has accused the Union government of systematically deleting anti-BJP votes under the guise of the Special Identity Register (SIR) exercise. Speaking at a memorial meeting for Communist leader Sarampalli Malla Reddy in Hyderabad, the CM alleged a conspiracy to remove one crore voters from the electoral rolls in the state.

Reddy claimed that the Election Commission is functioning at the behest of the BJP and is removing anti-BJP votes booth-wise. He said people from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and minority communities are the main targets of this alleged exercise. The CM also accused the BJP of replicating its "West Bengal strategy" in Telangana and engaging private agencies to conduct surveys and delete votes.

In an unusual appeal, Reddy called on Left parties to join hands with the Congress in the fight against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He praised the Communists for their long-standing struggle for the rights of the poor, asserting that PM Modi's defeat would be the victory of Communists. The CM described Modi as the most "dangerous person" for the country and accused the BJP of adopting new tactics to win elections after failing to win public trust.

Reddy also questioned the silence of the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on the issue. He highlighted the Congress's contributions, including the Minimum Wages Act, distribution of 24.56 lakh acres of assigned land, the Employment Guarantee Act, and the Food Security Act, as solutions to the struggles waged by Communists. The CM remembered Sarampalli Malla Reddy for his dedication to the cause of farmers.
