Telangana CM asks Ganesh mandap organisers to share venue and guest details with police

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asked organisers of Ganesh mandaps to furnish details of their venues and the guests they invite to the local police commissionerates, so that security and traffic arrangements for the festival can be planned in advance.

Speaking at a review meeting on Ganesh celebrations held in the Assembly, he said the government had revived the practice of holding such reviews to understand the difficulties faced by organisers. He appealed to them to pass on information about their mandaps and invitees ahead of time.

According to the Chief Minister, early details would allow the police to take precautionary steps and respond swiftly to any unforeseen incident. Knowing mandap locations in advance would also help with traffic management and the positioning of security personnel, he said.

Mr. Reddy underlined that Hyderabad can draw investment only if the city stays peaceful, and stressed that law and order must not be disturbed during the celebrations. He sought the cooperation of mandap organisers in maintaining peace and security.

The Chief Minister noted that the State supplies free electricity to Ganesh mandaps, a benefit he said is not extended anywhere else in the country, and asked organisers to apply to the concerned authorities to avail it.

He also directed officials to build arrangements for Ganesh idol immersions into the design and construction of lakes being developed in the city, along the lines of the facilities created for Bathukamma celebrations.
