Telangana Congress government completes 1,000 days: Key achievements and initiatives
Telangana's Congress government marks 1,000 days with focus on investments, IT growth, and women-led welfare schemes.
The Congress government in Telangana, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, has completed 1,000 days in office. The administration has sought to carve out a distinct identity through a mix of investment promotion, infrastructure development, and welfare programs centered on women.
A key focus has been maintaining Telangana's status as a preferred investment destination. The state has been rated a 'Top Achiever' in key sectors under the Business Reforms Action Plan. Investments worth ₹1.29 lakh crore have been facilitated through the TG-iPASS system, while the Telangana Rising Global Summit generated investment agreements valued at ₹5.75 lakh crore. Additionally, investments of ₹92,281 crore have been made on TGIIC lands, with the potential to create over 78,000 jobs. The Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy has attracted proposed investments of ₹73,360 crore, targeting 3.5 lakh jobs.
Hyderabad's IT sector has continued its upward trajectory. IT exports reached ₹3.97 lakh crore in 2025-26, with direct employment touching 12.14 lakh. The city now hosts over 355 Global Capability Centres, with 40 more companies choosing Hyderabad in 2026. The government is also positioning the state as a hub for data centres, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. Amazon has announced an additional investment of $7 billion, and the state has launched TGDeX, described as India's first State AI Data Exchange.
Women's welfare has been a visible priority. The Mahalakshmi scheme has enabled over 335 crore free journeys on TSRTC buses, saving women an estimated ₹11,000 crore in travel costs. Bank-linkage loans worth ₹60,487 crore have been extended to 4.54 lakh women's self-help groups, with ₹1,900 crore in interest subsidies. These groups are now venturing into manufacturing, operating petrol pumps, and owning RTC buses. The Gruha Jyothi scheme provides free electricity up to 200 units to over 53 lakh families, while 43 lakh families receive LPG cylinders at ₹500.
On infrastructure, the government has outlined an ambitious agenda. Plans include a 360-km Regional Ring Road around Hyderabad, 6,092 km of HAM roads, and a 122.9-km second phase of the Hyderabad Metro across seven corridors. Development of the Mamnoor airport and Adilabad airfield is also underway to boost regional connectivity and spread economic activity beyond the state capital.
