Telangana Congress Rallies in Hyderabad, Seeks CEC Gyanesh Kumar's Resignation
Telangana Congress leaders and cadre protested in Hyderabad on Monday, demanding CEC Gyanesh Kumar's resignation over alleged vote deletion and SIR mishandling.
Congress leaders and workers in Telangana staged a protest rally in Hyderabad on Monday, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The march began at the Indira Gandhi statue on Necklace Road and ended at the Election Commission's office, where the participants held a dharna opposite the premises.
The protesters accused the poll body of "vote chori" and alleged that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise had been mishandled. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud said the party was demonstrating against the Election Commission of India's handling of the revision process. He asked the Commission to make public the objections that two Election Commissioners had reportedly raised on various aspects of the SIR.
MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah had influenced the CEC to delete votes, claiming the aim was to keep them in power for fifty years.
Among those who took part in the rally were Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Mohd Azharuddin, along with several MPs, MLAs and MLCs.
