Telangana's EAGLE Force wins national award for anti-narcotics performance

Telangana's anti-narcotics efforts have drawn national recognition, with the State's Narcotics Bureau and EAGLE Force scoring above 80% on seven parameters laid down by the Union Government to evaluate the performance of Anti-Narcotics Task Forces (ANTFs).

The award was presented by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the third National Conference of Anti-Narcotics Task Force Heads in New Delhi on Tuesday. EAGLE Force director Sandeep Shandilya received it on behalf of the Telangana Police.

The assessment covered intelligence operations; control of precursors and synthetic drugs; prosecution; demand and harm reduction; coordination and capacity building; research and analysis; and administration and logistics.

On the prosecution front, Telangana has put in place dedicated support mechanisms that include legal scrutiny, judicial analysis, witness protection and prosecution support.

Director General of Police C.V. Anand has been reviewing the EAGLE Force's work regularly and instructing district Superintendents of Police and other unit officers to treat drug trafficking and substance abuse as a priority. He congratulated Shandilya and the officers and personnel of the EAGLE Force on the national recognition.
