Telangana Excise Department Drafting Proposal to Arm Officers in CURE Region
Telangana's Prohibition and Excise Department is preparing a proposal to arm its officers in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) area, with the Commissioner seeking views on which ranks should be equipped.
The Telangana Prohibition and Excise Department is drawing up a proposal to be placed before the State government on arming its officers working in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) area, Commissioner C. Hari Kiran has indicated.
At a review meeting with Excise officials from the CURE jurisdiction, the Commissioner sought their views on which ranks ought to be armed should the government approve the plan. Officials were asked to furnish comprehensive inputs so that the proposal can be finalised for submission.
Mr. Hari Kiran directed that any armed Excise operations, if sanctioned, be carried out in coordination with the Police Department.
The meeting also reviewed enforcement priorities. Officials were told to keep strict surveillance and intensify action against offences linked to the NDPS Act as well as violations involving non-duty-paid liquor.
On the revenue side, the Commissioner asked the officials to speed up the collection of excise rental fees from bars and liquor shops. They were further instructed to extend the necessary facilities and guidance to applicants seeking new bar licences.
Among those present were Additional Commissioner Syed Yasin Qureshi, Enforcement Joint Commissioner G. Anjan Rao, Greater Hyderabad and Cyberabad Deputy Commissioners A. Srinivasa Reddy and J. Harikishan, TGBCL Deputy Commissioner P. Dasarath, Assistant Commissioner (Headquarters) Seelam Srinivas and other Excise officials.
