Telangana allocates ₹1,000 crore for Godavari Pushkaralu preparations
Telangana earmarks ₹1,000 crore for 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu. Deputy CM launches temple reconstruction and infrastructure works in Dharmapuri.
The Telangana government has set aside ₹1,000 crore in the State budget for development works linked to the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced on Monday.
Speaking after performing the bhoomi puja for the reconstruction of the historic Sri Ugra Narasimha Swamy temple in Dharmapuri, Mr. Vikramarka said the Congress government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is prioritising both the conservation of ancient temples and the strengthening of pilgrim infrastructure.
The temple rebuild is estimated to cost ₹10 crore. Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar and Endowments Director and Commissioner M. Hanumantha Rao were present on the occasion.
Of the total allocation, ₹200 crore has been earmarked specifically for Pushkaralu-related works in the Dharmapuri Assembly constituency. These include the construction of pushkar ghats at Dharmapuri and Kotilingala, both prominent pilgrimage centres in Jagtial district.
The Deputy CM also laid the foundation stone for pushkar ghats at Dharmapuri, a project worth ₹22.16 crore, and nine road works costing ₹58.55 crore at Dharmapuri and Kotilingala.
The government is developing temples along the Godavari river stretch from Basar to Bhadrachalam, creating infrastructure to handle the expected influx of pilgrims during the festival.
