Telangana Braces for Three-Day Rain Spell, Officials Told to Stay Alert
Telangana officials have been put on alert ahead of a three-day rain forecast, with instructions to monitor flood-prone areas and set up district control rooms.
Telangana has gone on alert ahead of a three-day spell of rain expected to begin Wednesday, September 23, 2026, with the state administration directing officials to remain ready for a swift response.
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy instructed officials to address public grievances promptly and to keep a constant watch on flood-prone and low-lying areas, as well as rivulets and streams. Teams have been told to be prepared to move residents to safer locations if conditions demand it.
Special attention is to be given to Pedapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal and Hanumakonda districts, which are considered vulnerable during heavy rain.
The minister said a round-the-clock control room with a toll-free number should be set up in every district so that people in need can reach authorities easily. Residents have been advised to avoid stepping out unless it is necessary.
With the forecast covering three days from Wednesday, the administration's focus is on keeping monitoring systems active and ensuring that assistance reaches affected areas without delay.
