Telangana, SCR to draw up DPRs for MMTS expansion, new rail corridors
Telangana and South Central Railway will prepare DPRs for MMTS expansion, new terminals along ORR/RRR, and future corridors including bullet trains.
The Telangana government and South Central Railway (SCR) will prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) for expanding the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) and developing new railway terminals along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Regional Ring Road (RRR) corridors around Hyderabad. The DPRs will also cover land acquisition for future connectivity, including potential bullet train corridors.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju issued the directive on Monday during a high-level meeting with SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava at the Secretariat. The meeting reviewed 21 key issues related to railway infrastructure in the state, including construction of underpasses and overbridges, approach roads, road widening, line doubling, and improving public transport connectivity to Cherlapalli railway station.
SCR officials informed the meeting that DPRs for 17 railway projects spanning 2,023 km, with an estimated investment of ₹50,870 crore, have already been submitted to the Railway Board. Mr. Jaju assured full state government support and called for joint inspections by railway and state officials to resolve outstanding issues affecting project implementation.
The meeting also discussed land acquisition challenges, administrative approvals, and measures to mobilise funds under the PM Gati Shakti programme. Mr. Jaju directed officials from Municipal Administration, HMWSSB, Revenue, Energy, and Roads & Buildings departments to work closely with SCR to facilitate timely execution of projects. Special Chief Secretaries Vikas Raj and Naveen Mittal attended the meeting.
